Diversity is any dimension that can be used to differentiate groups and people
Diversity is about celebrating and empowering people by appreciating what makes them unique, in terms of ethnicity, (dis) ability, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. Diversity allows for the acceptance of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It gives us the rich dimensions within each individual and tradition, and places value on diversity in the community and in the workplaces.
Inclusion is an effort and practice in which different backgrounds are culturally and socially accepted
Successful inclusion happens when all people and individuals feel safe, respected, valued, and have a sense of belonging. Real and authentic inclusion enriches the lives of everyone. Inclusion changes the entire system for the better, and provides access to equal resources and opportunities.
Everyone has the right to feel safe and respected, and is able to show-up with their authentic identities. To create an inclusive culture is to start with inclusive behaviors. An inclusive environment can only be built by the collective fostering of behaviors that bring people together.
Equity allows all individuals access to the same treatment, opportunity, and resources
Together, equity, diversity and inclusion foster efficient relationships built on trust and thoughtful collaboration. Trust is essential to cultivate inclusive environments and make others feel safe to bring their authentic identities into any space. Genuine interactions will lead to a sense of community that will contribute to a sense of belonging.
Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity require continuous efforts. While acknowledging the challenges everyone is facing from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, civil unrest following the killing of George Floyd, and violent attacks on Asians, and loss of jobs and loved ones, we can work towards building-up one another and our communities to make a lasting positive difference for generations.

How can telling our stories improve our opportunities to gain support from funders and other organizations? Effective storytelling can help to develop and strengthen partnerships. This workshop will increase your confidence to represent your work with funders and other stakeholders. You will develop the techniques and strategies to lead these important conversations.
Facilitating Difficult Conversations About DEI in the Workplace
This session will help people explore and reflect on how to more effectively facilitate conversations about DEI in the workplace. Participants will identify their own challenges with having these conversations about equity and diversity, learn how to cultivate compassionate understanding, and practice strategies they can apply in their own workplace.
Communicating with Equity
Equity-based communications integrate tailored strategies that are culturally appropriate, audience-based, and resonate with the target groups. Participants will learn how to create inclusive communication efforts that are effective. They will increase their knowledge and understanding of the audience they work with, and use Audience and Group Identification methods, including Segmentation to expand reach and impact.
Self-Advocacy in the Workplace
This session will address the importance of self-advocacy in shaping your own career. Participants will learn how to best represent their authentic selves and how to develop a personal brand. The session will also address overcoming stereotypical expectations, the right to social inclusion, and intersectionality in the workplace.
