The month of May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the United States. Khoo Consulting Founder and CEO Poh Lin Khoo recently had the opportunity to speak with Sahan Journal ahead of the upcoming AAPI Small Business Expo. Poh Lin is on the planning committee for the event and will also be presenting.
During the interview with the publication, Poh Lin noted the resilience of the community in the face of serious challenges and discrimination, including the recent rise in anti-Asian sentiments.
“Whether we personally have experienced it or not … it still affects us,” Khoo said. “So, it’s really important to see the government, businesses and community leaders coming and speaking up and showing up on behalf of the AAPI community in our local community … speaking out against anti-Asian sentiment.”
She also shared her thoughts about the often overlooked contributions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
“We bring value,” Khoo said. “We’re not a nuisance. We matter. We contribute to the success of this country.”
